As part of its regular February meeting on Feb. 20, the Steeleville District 138 Board of Education accepted two teacher resignations.
The resignations are second grade teacher Candice Feldmann and Steeleville High School Spanish/Social Studies teacher Catherine Crowe. Both resignations are effective at the end of the current academic year.
"We're not going to be posting the second grade one," said District Superintendent Stephanie Mulholland. "Crowe's position has already been posted, so we're waiting to see what we get with them."
Mulholland said both teachers are moving on to other opportunities.
"We will wait and see if we need another teacher, based upon enrollment," Mulholland said on why the second grade position is not being posted.
The board also accepted the resignation of assistant girls basketball coach Lesley Wente.
"At the end of the year, we look at all the extracurriculars we have," Mulholland said on filling the basketball position. "We look internally first and if we don't have anybody, we'll look externally."
The board also approved Eric Raby as a volunteer assistant softball coach for the current school year. In addition, the board approved an overnight softball trip to Eminence, Mo., from March 30 to April 2 and a tournament in Murfreesboro, Tenn., March 24-26.
The board's lone action item was to approve the date of 8th grade advancement, which has been set for Thursday, May 18, at 7 p.m.

- During curriculum reports, the board heard from teachers Alison Roehrig and Wente. Roehrig gave an update on digital photography, which is one of the new art classes the board had approved last summer.
Wente gave a report on some of her math classes extracurricular activities, including a Rube Goldberg project.
"Red Bud had canceled its competition and the nearest one is Springfield, so they're going to practice building them locally," Mulholland said.
- Mulholland was asked about an update on the science lab:
"It's not quite at the end, but we have a few hoods needing to be replaced that were damaged in transit," she said.
