Farm safety emphasized during harvest

Each year Farm Credit Services of Illinois provides a lunch during Farm Safety week for a family that it serves in each county in Southern Illinois.

Thursday the cooperative served one of those lunches on the front lawn of Samuel Yoder's farm near Stonefort. The cooperative's mission is to provide competitive and dependable credit and related services.

Samuel Yoder moved to his Stonefort property in order to raise beef. His business is named Countryside Meat.

Yoder said the corn crop was particularly good this year due to timely rainfall.

Farm Credit Services of Illinois is a farmer-owned and farmer-directed cooperative dedicated to delivering competitive and flexible farm financing and crop insurance expertise.

Each year Farm Credit Services of Harrisburg provides its Meals In the Field to one of its customers in each of the Southern Illinois counties it serves. Meals In the Field is intended to emphasize slowing down and concentrate on safety during the hectic corn harvesting season.
