A Benton man is in custody after being accused of possessing child pornography and sexually attacking a girl he lured through social networking.
According to the Associated Press, WSIL-TV reports prosecutors in Franklin County have charged 68-year-old Thomas Vaughn of Benton with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and child pornography.
Authorities allege Vaughn used Facebook to lure a girl younger than 13, then assaulted her.
Investigators say child pornography also was found on Vaughn's computer.
Vaughn is being held in lieu of $500,000 bond and is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing July 24.
Online court records don't show whether he has an attorney.
