Paul R. "Ronnie" Carr, 73, of Logan died at 4:35 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at Franklin Hospital, Benton.


Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory, Benton. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Revs. Bill Morris and Jake Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic & Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton, with military rites performed by the Benton American Legion and V.F.W.


Memorial contributions may be made to the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory and will be accepted at the funeral home.


Mr. Carr was born on Dec. 13, 1938, in Benton, the son of Paul Ira Carr and Doris Ethel (Hill) Carr. He married the former Margery Lois Rice on July 31, 1960, and she survives.


Ronnie was a retired mechanic from BRP, Inc., and was a well-known motorcycle mechanic. In his younger days, he was a flat-track motorcycle racer. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Community of Christ Church in Thompsonville.


Surviving relatives include his wife, Margery Carr, Logan; three daughters, Connie Darr and John Sweetin, Whittington, Linda Whitlow and Ed Morris, Benton, and Barbara Volkman and Jay Arnett, Logan; a son, Ronnie Carr and Christine Gower-Leathers, Benton; four grandchildren, Robert (Mandi) Whitlow, Sesser, Amber and Tyler Arnett, both of Logan, Kaylen Sweetin, Mt. Vernon, and McKenna and Evan Leathers, both of Sesser; two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Lane Whitlow, both of Sesser; an aunt, Pearl Carr, Kerrsville, Texas; a cousin, Nancy Carr, Kerrsville, Texas; a sister-in-law, Shirley (Bob) Hill, West Frankfort; and good friend, Jim Davis, Desoto, Mo.


Mr. Carr was preceded in death by his parents.
