Chester High School senior Ian Reith was honored Jan. 18 for hitting the 1,000-point mark in his varsity basketball career for the Yellow Jackets.

Reith's 1000th point was scored on Dec. 28 during the Chester game against Meridian at the Duster Thomas Hoops Classic in Pinckneyville.

The recognition for Reith took place prior to the championship game of the 2020 Chester Invitational Tournament -- in which Chester eclipsed Waterloo in double overtime, 50-47.

At the time of the presentation Reith had scored 1,104 points, but he scored an additional 18 points against Waterloo making his new year-to-date total 1,122 points.

For the season Reith averages 16.89 points per game.
