PINCKNEYVILLE 75; WESCLIN 33
Coach Alan Engelhardt: Tonight was a solid first effort for us. We got better defensively as the game went along, getting our hand in the passing lane and turning defense into offense. Our defense and rebounding allowed us to score 75 points on a night we didn't shoot very well, and the good news is we took some good shots that I believe we will hit a much higher percentage of as the season progresses.
We also got production from every girl on our team tonight. It was good to get Kenzie back on the floor, and they really didn't have an answer for her dribble penetration. Lily Tanner and Lily Britt joined her in double figures, also doing a nice job of getting into the paint to score.
It was also nice to get our younger kids in for the end of the third and the entire fourth quarter to get their feet wet. We will need them next week as the competition stiffens.

MT. VERNON 75; PINCKNEYVILLE 68
Coach Alan Engelhardt: Obviously, when you score 68 points, you expect to win. I didn't think we did a very good job of helping each other out on defense with our gap responsibilities or when we needed to switch.
Offensively, Kenzie got to the rim at will and got them into some foul trouble, and I thought Aubrey Bruns really stepped up as a second scorer for us tonight.
It is early in the season, and we want to play teams that challenge us, so we can definitely see that for us to be a better team, we have some work to do on team defense.
