NASHVILLE -- The Pinckneyville High School girls basketball team fell into an early hole and lost 33-20 to Nashville in an SIRR Mississippi Division game Tuesday night at Assembly Hall.
Nashville jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the first quarter, then held the lead as both teams traded baskets the rest of the way.
Megan Breslin and Payton Morgan shared team-high honors for Pinckneyville with five points each.
The Lady Panthers dropped to 16-10 overall and 5-4 in the conference with the loss.
"We caught the ball not ready to play on offense and allowed their sagging man to keep us from the rim," said Pinckneyville coach Alan Engelhardt. "When we got it inside, we were very timid and took junior high shots. Very disappointed with our
execution on offense and our attention to the scouting report on defense."
Libby Ahlers led Nashville with 15 points.
Pinckneyville hosts Carterville for Senior Night on Thursday.
