Harrisburg handles Red Devils on road

Fresh off their first state ranking of the season, the No. 1 ranked Harrisburg girls' basketball team knocked off Murphysboro 51-36 Thursday night on the road.
Brooke Meylor, who came into the contest, averaging 11.6 points per game, scored a game-high 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting and 2-of-4 from 3-point range, while Karsyn Davis scored 10 points to also finish in double figures.
Harrisburg, who averages 57.8 points per game, got eight from Madeline Rider and Summer Sanders, while Essence Sanders scored six. Ivy Brown finished with five as the Bulldogs stayed unbeaten at 9-0 overall and 2-0 in SIRR Ohio play.
The Harrisburg junior varsity team also picked up a win, beating the Red Devils 22-5.
Mya King finished with five points, while Lauryn Gribble tossed in four points. Stream Black, Kailyn Moss, Gabby Adams, Molly Shires and Lexi Williams all scored two points. Chelsea Davidson had a free throw.
Harrisburg will host Benton tonight (Tuesday) and will play host to Massac County Thursday. The Bulldogs close out the week against Piasa Southwestern at the Bethalto Civic Memorial Shootout.

Herrin 56, Eldorado 49
On Saturday night, EHS put three players in double figures, including a game-high 20 points from Paige Munds and another 10 points from both Lilly Mosby and Lexie Mitchell in a 56-49 loss at Herrin.
Jade Hise finished with five points, while MiKayla Rash and Lacey Hobbs both tossed in two points.

Hamilton County 70, Eldorado 49
Kolby Brake had a game-high 21 points, while Kaleigh Dodson (20 points) and Anna Miller (14 points) each scored in double figures as Hamilton County improved to 10-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play with a 70-49 win over Eldorado Thursday night.
Munds had a team-high 20 points for Eldorado (2-6, 0-1) while Mosby and Mitchell both scored in double figures as each tacked on 10 points.
Hise finished with five points, while Hobbs and Rash both finished with two points.
Eldorado was scheduled to play at Fairfield Monday and host Galatia-Thompsonville Wednesday. The Eagles will close out the week Thursday at Johnston City.

Goreville 59, Gallatin County 35
Audrey Jackson scored 15 points and was the only Gallatin County player in double figures as the Hawks fell to No. 3 ranked in 1A Goreville 59-35 Wednesday night.
Gracie Sauls, Molly Newton, Haley Zirkelback, Megan Morgan and Morgan Russell all had four points for the Hawks.

Gallatin County 48, Pope County 27
Jackson scored 19 points and Sauls flipped in 15 points as Gallatin County beat GEC rival Pope County Friday night.
Zirkelback scored six points for the Hawks, while Newton finished with four points. Emma Brockett and Russell both had two points.
Gallatin County was scheduled to host Marion on Monday and will play host to Hamilton County Thursday. The Hawks will travel to West Frankfort Saturday in a 1 p.m. game at Max Morris Gymnasium.
