DECATUR -- The cross country season came to an end for the Marion High School boys and girls squads Saturday at the Decatur MacArthur 2A Sectional meet.

In the boys race, Marion ran as a team but didn't finish in the top five and didn't have anyone make the top seven individuals not on an advancing team.

Marion's top finisher was Taylor Dreyer, a freshman, who placed 23rd with a time of 15:59.61. Next was senior Joe Sullins, who was 60th in 16:46.07. Jack Gregory was 76th (16:57.06) and Steven Kosco was 85th (17:03.66) and Isaac Donaldson was 98th (17:18.99).

Marion had advanced to the state meet the previous two years, but were hampered this season when top returning runner John Bruce was injured at an early meet.

Marion had two girls running as individuals at the sectional meet. Mari Ray placed 33rd in 20:01.06 and freshman Margaux Bruce was 57th in 20:31.22.
