The Harrisburg volleyball team went on the road and picked up a straight sets win at Carmi-White County Monday night.
Harrisburg knocked off its non-conference foe 25-23 and 25-17, while the Harrisburg junior varsity team lost in two sets, as did the Harrisburg freshmen team.
For Harrisburg, Devin Butler led the game with 21 assists, while Madeline Rider led the night with eight kills. Freshman Chelsea Davidson served up three aces in the match, while libero Mackenzie Marshall had 11 digs on the night and Josie Drone chopped in four kills and two blocks. Lauryn Gribble added four kills, while Autumn Rain Harrawood had two kills and three blocks and Carlea Fuerback had a kill and a block on the night.
Harrisburg head coach Heather Cox complimented her squad on their scrappy play Monday after what she called a long weekend of some tough volleyball at the McCracken County (Paducah, Ky.) Quad State Tournament, where the Bulldogs went 2-3 with wins over Daviess County, Ky. and Memphis (Tenn.) White Station.
"It was good to see the girls come out ready to play," Cox said. "We played some big schools in Kentucky this weekend and saw some really good volleyball. Carmi too was a good quality team that showed lots of fight."
Harrisburg was slated to travel to Massac County Tuesday for a SIRR Ohio match up.

Harrisbug falls to Herrin last week
Harrisburg head volleyball coach calls the mid-season stumble a rut and as a result, the Bulldogs lost a three-set match to Herrin late last week.
"We have to get back to what we do best," Cox said. "We started this season winning games with tough defense and solid senior led offense. The last few games have seen very little of either consistently."
Against Herrin, Devin Butler had 29 assists with 16 of those becoming Madeline Rider kills. Mackenzie Marshall had 14 digs. Sophomore middle Autumn Rain Harrawood played tough getting six kills and two blocks.

Eagles fall on the road at Hamilton County
The Eldorado varsity volleyball team went on the road and lost in straight sets at Hamilton County late last week.
The Eagles fell 25-16 and 25-7 in a game that EHS head coach Lisa Craig said the final score isn't a correct indicator of how her team played.
"We played well against a very strong Hamilton County team," she said. "These girls give 110 percent and play with total team work. The score is not a true vision of how they played. Hamilton County is an excellent digging team and most of our spikes were being dug up. We had long rallies and the ball would have Hamilton County's way every time."
Briley Lenkaitis went 9-9 on spikes for EHS and finished with 14 digs and two blocks. Lauryn Hampton was 13-14 on sets and 3-4 on serves with three points. Emma Wargel was 11-12 on spikes and had two kills. She also finished with six block and was 7-8 on serves with eight points.
Jade Hise went 10-11 on spikes with three kills and 10 digs, while Paige Munds was 14-14 on sets with 11 digs. Kyla Pilkington was 3-3 on serves with three points and seven digs, while Kynzie Sizemore was 6-7 on spikes with one kill. Both Lexie Mitchell and Kianna Roberts each had nine digs.
The EHS JV team also lost in straight sets, falling 25-9 and 25-19.
Eldorado will travel to Zeigler-Royalton today (Tuesday), followed by another Black Diamond Conference road game Wednesday at Edwards County. The Eagles return home Thursday to play host to Carmi-White County.
