Herrin wins rematch with Lady Wildcats

HERRIN -- The Marion High School girls tennis team traveled to Herrin for a rematch with the Lady Tigers on Tuesday and the result was the same as the season opener with Herrin pulling out a 6-3 victory.
Herrin's Reagan Ridgway was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Nicole Szidik at No. 1 singles, while Ana Cuartas defeated Bryndle Burks at No. 2. Herrin's Kelby Weber was a 6-1, 6-2 winner over Carrie Graham at No. 3 and the Tigers also got a win at No. 5, but Marion used tiebreak wins from Margaux Bruce and Sophia Arnold to make it 3-3 going into doubles.
Herrin swept the doubles to win the match, even rallying from down a set in both the No. 1 and No. 3 pairings.
Marion was scheduled to play Centralia on Wednesday but the match was canceled.
