Du Quoin cross country teams host home meet

DU QUOIN -- The Du Quoin High School cross country teams hosted their own invitational meet Thursday at the state fairgrounds.
In the girls race, Du Quoin won the title with four runners in the top 10, including overall winner Gabby Alongi in a time of 19:25.30.
Pinckneyville was second, followed by Carterville, Okawville, Nashville, New Athens, Anna-Jonesboro, Steeleville, Goreville, Chester and CZR.
Du Quoin's other top runners were Jacqueline Crain (5th, 21:07), Olivia Phillips (8th, 21:23), Grace Alongi (9th, 21:26) and Alexis George (14th, 22:14).
Pinckneyville was led by Dakota Krone, who placed sixth in 21:11, followed by Gayle Winter (10th, 21:29) and Olivia Buza (17th, 22:24).
On the boys side, Steeleville was the winner followed by Du Quoin, Nashville, Pinckneyville, Carterville, Sparta, Okawville, Anna-Jonesboro, New Athens, Goreville, Chester and CZR.
Du Quoin's top runners were Payton Hilliard (7th, 17:43), Jon Gomes (9th, 17:53), Landen Swiney (11th, 18:09) and Carson Davis (15th, 18:22).
Pinckneyville was led by Liam Oliver (4th, 17:14) and Daniel Garavaglia (16th, 18:22).
