Lady Cats sweep Mt. Vernon

MARION -- Kylie Plant had 16 kills and 10 digs as the Marion High School volleyball team swept Mt. Vernon 28-26, 25-18 in South Seven Conference play Thursday night at Cuss Wilson Gymnasium.
Marion improved to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in the South Seven with the win.
McKenzie Orange added four kills and three blocks, Lily Garrett had three kills and Jackie Drury had a block.
Jordan Turner had 15 digs and an ace, Kaylee Evans had 22 assists and three kills, Tori Evans had 11 digs and Daishen Wolaver had 10 digs for the Lady Wildcats.
Marion then played in the Superman Slam tournament hosted by Massac County on Saturday and went 2-2.
Marion lost to New Athens (25-18, 25-18) and Du Quoin (19-25, 25-19, 15-9) but beat Cobden's Appleknockers (25-15, 25-18) before finishing up against Anna-Jonesboro and winning 24-26, 25-13, 15-10 to place fifth.
Plant was named to the all-tournament team.
Marion, which is now 8-7, plays next on Thursday at home against Carbondale.
