Wargel named to BDC All-Conference

Emma Wargel was one of 16 softball players named to the Black Diamond All-Conference East Team earlier this week and was the lone representative from Eldorado High School to make the team.
Leah Winiger, of Johnston City, was named Most Valuable Player on the East, while Hamilton County's Grace Luke and Maddie Out of Edwards County were named Co-Captians.
Johnston City also put Madison Weber, Cheyenne Smith and Alexis Turner on the team, while Edwards County added Sydney Weber and Tara Thompson. Hamilton County had three as well as Corrie Grubb, Katherine Drone and Kolby Blake were recognized.
Fairfield saw Lexi Hobbs, Kylar Slover and Chloe Newman make the team, while Carmi's Julia Smith joined Wargel as the lone representative.
The Eagle freshman was 5-10 in the circle for Eldorado with a 7.00 ERA. She worked 91 innings, allowing 126 hits and 72 earned runs, while striking out 87 and walking 27. Wargel threw a perfect game against Gallatin County earlier in the year, where she struck out 11.
At the plate, Wargel had a .424 batting average as she finished the year with 31 hits. She scored 20 runs and knocked in 16. She also smacked four doubles and two triples, while hitting three home runs and finishing with seven stolen bases.
