Post 167 pops Carmi for doubleheader win

After losing to Salem Friday night, Harrisburg American Legion Post 167 rebounded in a big way to take two games from Carmi Post 224, winning 19-1 and 11-0 Sunday in District 24 action
Post 167 is now 4-0 in district play and one win away from a regular season district title and the No. 1 seed in the District Tournament.
Harrisburg had seven hits in its Game 2 win over Carmi, where Garrett Rushing (Gallatin County) went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Seth Quertermous (Crab Orchard), Ben Byrd (Eldorado), Nick Walker (Pope Co.), Bronson Stanley (Galatia) and Kale Oglesby (Eldorado) all had one hit. Quertermous, Byrd and Oglesby all had two RBI and scored a pair of runs, while Stanley scored two runs. Josh Turnage (Crab Orchard) and Walker both scored one run.
Harrisburg jumped on Carmi early, scoring two runs in the first inning, followed by three runs in the second and six runs in the third.
Dalton Lambert (Harrisburg) picked up the win on the mound, going three innings, allowing no runs on three hits, while striking out five and walking one. Payton Miller came on in relief and tossed two innings, striking out one and finishing with one walk.
In the Game 1 win, Turnage got the win, going the distance and allowing one run on six hits, while striking out 11 and walking four.
At the plate, Post 167 pounded out 10 hits as Ethan Ashby (Crab Orchard), Byrd and Walker all had a pair of hits. Walker scored four runs on the day, while Byrd finished with a team-high three RBI and a run scored. Ashby drove in two runs and scored a pair of runs.
Quertermous, Rushing, Miller and Oglesby all had one hit as Quertermous scored three runs and finished with an RBI. Rushing drove in two runs, while Miller and Oglesby each had a pair of RBI and scored two runs.
Salem 15, Harrisburg 3
Salem Post 158 cranked out 17 hits en route to a 15-3 win over Harrisburg Friday at Gibbs Field.
Walker got the start and took the loss for Harrisburg as the Pope County native went three innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits, while striking out two and walking one.
Stanley came on to work three innings of relief work, giving up two runs on six hits, while striking out one and walking three.
Hunter Cullum (Hardin County) and Bayden Ditterline (Cobden) both worked one inning of relief work with Cullum allowing six runs (five earned) on two hits, with four walks and a strikeout. Ditterline struck out one, while giving up two runs on four hits.
At the plate, Harrisburg had just five hits on the day as Ashby went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Byrd and Ditterline each had a hit and an RBI. Rushing was 1-for-3 with a run scored and Quertermous had a run scored.
Harrisburg Post 167 returns to action Wednesday at Evansville-Pate, slated for a 7 p.m. start and will return home Sunday to play a double header with Fairfield, scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
