Haney named top senior athlete at Du Quoin girls sports banquet

DU QUOIN -- Grace Haney was honored as the Senior Athlete of the Year during the Du Quoin Girls All-Sports Banquet held Monday night.
Haney, who was given a $1,000 award, received the honor for being a senior who excels in her sports locally, regionally and at the state level.
Kris Stacey received the first Senior Athlete of the Year award in 1979 and other awards were given in her honor.
Andrea Lopez received the Kris Stacey Scholarship Award, a $500 award donated by the friends and family of Kris to honor the characteristics that set an athlete apart from other athletes and for being a positive role model for youth.
Hope Stewart received the Kris Stacey Academic Award and Skye Westerhouse won the Spirit of Kris Stacey Award for being a team player with a positive attitude.
