Lady Wildcats hold off Highland

MARION -- Devon Davis and Keira Hance both homered as the Marion High School softball team turned back Highland, 5-4, Tuesday at the Crisp Sports Complex.
Davis went deep to give Marion a 3-0 lead in the first inning, then Highland tied the game at 3 before Hance launched her solo shot to put the Lady Wildcats back in front.
Ivy Smart got the win in the circle as Marion improved to 26-4 on the season.
The Lady Wildcats are scheduled to play at Belleville West on Friday to finish the regular season.
Marion's postseason begins next Tuesday at the Olney Richland County 3A Regional against either Olney or Salem at 4:30 p.m.
With a win, Marion goes back to Olney to face either Herrin or Mt. Vernon for the regional championship on Saturday, May 26, at 11 a.m.
The regional winner moves onto the Centralia Sectional and plays in the semifinal game on Wednesday, May 30.
