CARTERVILLE -- The John A. Logan College baseball team had its season end Sunday in the championship round of the Region XXIV tournament.
Logan opened play Friday with an 8-7 loss against Rend Lake, but then advanced to the title round by routing Southwestern Illinois (12-2 in five innings) and Rend Lake (12-4 in five innings).
The Vols then took on Olney on Sunday but lost 12-1. Logan would have needed to beat Olney twice to keep its season alive.
Logan finishes with a record of 38-16.
The Volunteers had four players named all-conference by the GRAC: Trey Riley, A.J. Lewis, Brenden Heiss and Tanner Gordon.
Riley, a righthanded pitcher headed to Missouri State, was also named All-Region and the GRAC's Co-Pitcher of the Year.
