Logan softball has season end in postseason tourney

CENTRALIA -- The John A. Logan College softball team saw its season end Saturday in the postseason tournament.
Logan finishes at 30-13.
The Lady Vols suffered a tough loss to Lake Land, 7-6, in the weekend's first game as the Lakers plated two runs in the sixth on a homer by Haylee Short.
Logan got home runs from Taja Dedecker, Mikayla Chamness and Makayla Smothers in the loss. Dedecker had three RBIs and Chamness had two.
Logan kept its season alive with a 12-11 win over Olney with three runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Lynnsay Wilson had a monster game with three hits, including a homer, and seven RBIs. She also scored three times.
Taylor Rogers, Lexi Childers and Ally Vaughn all had two hits for the Lady Vols.
Logan's season ended with an 8-1 loss to Lake Land in five innings.
Short had three hits, including another homer, drove in two and scored three times for the Lakers.
Logan's lone run came on a solo homer by Wilson in the fourth inning. It was one of just two hits by the Lady Vols against hurler Holly Marousek, with Rebecca Moffett collecting the other.
