MARION -- Ivy Smart and Keira Hance both hit monstrous homers and the Marion High School softball team blasted Cobden, 13-0 in five innings, for a non-conference win Wednesday at the Crisp Sports Complex.
Marion snapped a two-game losing skid and improved to 18-3 with the win.
Cobden had baserunners in all five innings -- and in scoring position in four of them -- but the Lady Wildcats escaped danger every time to give Smart a shutout.
Smart crushed a three-run homer in the first inning after Hannah Nalley and Hance both walked, then Nalley hit a two-run double and Hance blasted a two-run homer onto the far tennis court.
Devon Davis kept the rally going with a double and scored to make it a five-run inning.
Errors and walks led to four more runs in the third, then Kelsi Cutsinger and Morgan Andrews both doubled in the fourth to produce another tally.
The victory was No. 150 for Marion head coach Joy Neal.
