Marion girls track team places second at own invite

MARION -- Quincy Gordon won a pair of events as the Marion High School girls track and field team finished second behind Centralia at the Marion Invitational on Friday at the Crisp Sports Complex.
Also competing at the meet were Salem, Benton and Harrisburg.
Gordon won the pole vault and also the mile run with a time of 6:02.56.
Also winning events for Marion were Heaven Lawrence in the 100-meter hurdles (18.15), Jaidyn Porter in the 400 (1:01.77) and Marissa Holmes in the triple jump (34-4). Marion also won the 4x100 relay in 51.52 seconds.
Holmes, who earlier in the week signed to join the SIU track team, also finished second in the high jump (5-3) and long jump (15-8). Marion's Katie Frerichs was third behind Holmes in the triple jump at 29-5.5.
Makenzie Miller placed second behind Lawrence in the 100 hurdles (18.28) and was third in the 300 hurdles (54.83). Lexi Basi was second in the two-mile run (14:05.47) and Zoe Boatright was third in the mile (6:20.5).
Porter also took third in the 100 dash (13.04), while MeMe Williams placed third behind Porter in the 400 (1:06.84).
