Maddy Ladd hit a 2-out base hit up the middle Monday as Harrisburg rallied to beat Benton 5-4 in 9 innings in Southern Illinois River-To-River Ohio action.
Essence Sanders kept the inning alive with a two-out double and following an intentional walk to Karsyn Davis, Ladd came up with the game-winning hit to score Sanders.
Sanders got the win in the circle to improve to 11-6 on the season, going the distance and facing 38 batters. Sanders allowed four runs on 14 hits, while striking out one and walking one.
At the plate, Mya King was 2-for-4 with two RBI and tied the game up in the eighth inning by scoring Jessica Hopson, who was pinch running for Davis.
Davis was 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Madeline Rider and Ladd were both 2-for-5. Sanders finished 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Harrisburg (12-7 overall, 3-4 Ohio) will travel to Murphysboro on Friday and then will play host to Carmi-White County and Hardin County on Saturday, starting at 11 a.m. in Harrisburg.
