HARRISBURG -- The Harrisburg baseball team improved to 10-9 overall with a trio of wins starting Monday as the Bulldogs notched victories over Massac County, Benton and Carmi-White County.
Presley Gauch, Jack Martin and Will Holland all had two hits.
Lambert, who was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored had a double in the win, while Holland also finished with a pair of RBI and a run scored.
Isaac Crabb, who was 1-for-4, drove in two runs, while Kent Cletcher, Carson Burtis and Easton Wallace all had a hit.
Burtis picked up the win on the mound as he went the distance, striking out eight. The Southeastern Illinois College baseball signee allowed one run (unearned) on five hits with one walk.
Harrisburg pulled off a dramatic 2-1 win over Benton Tuesday and then hung on for the win as Christian Williams got the win and Noah Boon got the save.
Williams went six innings and allowed one run on four hits, while striking out five and walking two. Boon pitched the seventh, striking out one.
Benton got on the board in the first inning when Parker Williams flew out to Easton Wallace in right field, allowing Gehrig Wynn to score from third.
Harrisburg pushed ahead the go-ahead runs in the bottom of the third inning when Gauch singled up the middle with two outs to score both Dalton Lambert and Ben Brombaugh.
The inning started with Gibbs singled to third and that followed a Crabb line drive single to left field, moving Gibbs to second. Brombaugh came in to pinch run for Crabb and Lambert single to third to load the bases, Cletcher then grounded out into a 1-2-3 double play, forcing Gibbs at home and Cletcher at first before Gauch came through with the clutch hit.
Harrisburg had 11 hits on the day as Gibbs, Crabb and Lambert each had multiple hit games. Gauch, Martin, Burtis, Holland and Wallace all had one hit.
Harrisburg stepped out of SIRR Ohio play on Wednesday and knocked off Carmi-White County 13-1.
The Bulldogs continued their torrid pace at the plate with a 12-hit day as Martin was 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Crabb went 2-for-4 with a home run and tacked on a team-high four RBI and a run scored, while Lambert was 2-for-4 with a bomb for Harrisburg and had three RBI with two runs scored. Gauch and Cletcher both had two hits as Cletcher drove in two and Gauch had one RBI. Gauch scored two runs, while Cletcher scored one. Gibbs went 1-for-3 with two runs scored.
Wallace picked up the win on the bump as he went 2.1 innings, walking four, but allowing one run on one hit. Connor Phalin and Lambert combined to strike out five and one hit.
Harrisburg will be at Murphysboro Friday and will host Vandalla Saturday, starting at 11 a.m.
