CARTERVILLE -- Pinckneyville's J.C. Moll hit a layup with 12 seconds left to give Team Waggoner a dramatic 111-110 victory over Team Kraus in the 31st annual All-Star Classic boys basketball showcase game Sunday afternoon at John A. Logan College's Brewer Gymnasium.
Harrisburg's Isaiah Saulsberry had given Team Kraus the lead with 38 seconds left, but Moll's layup proved to be the game-winner. Saulsberry attempted a long 3-pointer at the buzzer but missed.
Moll finished with 18 points and Saulsberry scored 14. Moll was named MVP of Team Waggoner.
Murphysboro's Jeremy House was named MVP of Team Kraus after scoring a game-high 28 points.
Pinckneyville's Grant Jausel also played for Team Waggoner -- coached by Pinckneyville's Bob Waggoner -- and scored six points. Team Kraus was coached by Okawville's Jon Kraus.
Before the game, Jausel won the 3-point contest and Saulsberry won the dunk contest. Eldorado's Jacob Traxler, who had nine points in the game, was given the Shawn Oldani Hustle Award and Goreville's Braden Webb was given the Ron Herrin Award.
Marion's Justin Saddoris played for Team Waggoner and scored seven points. Meridian's Ja'Quan Jones led Team Waggoner with 19 points.
