Marion tennis blanks Salem

MARION -- The Marion High School boys tennis team played its first home match of the season Tuesday and whipped Salem, 9-0, at the Crisp Sports Complex.
In singles, Malachi Williams rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1, while Sam Childers won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2.
In the No. 3 spot, Logan Holderfield won 6-1, 6-0, while the next three players -- Luke Motsinger, Lucas Moake and Aaron Shelton -- all blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 1 doubles, Williams and Childers teamed up for a 6-1, 6-0 win. Holderfield and Moake were 6-0, 6-0 winners at No. 2 and finally Dylan Motsinger and Shelton finished the sweep with a 6-2, 6-1 victory.
Marion was scheduled to play at home again Thursday against Fairfield and host a tournament Saturday, weather permitting.
