CARTERVILLE -- The John A. Logan College softball team split a doubleheader with Southwestern Illinois on Thursday, winning the first game 9-2 before falling 12-9 in the second.
Sarah Aldridge picked up her first pitching win of the season in the opener. She allowed two runs on five hits.
Lynnsay Wilson had six hits in the doubleheader, with three of them being home runs.
Taylor Rogers and Mikayla Chamness both had four hits and Aldridge had three in the twinbill.
"We struggled at the plate and were unable to make the adjustments when we needed to," said Logan coach Taylor Siefert. "When you aren't swinging it well, you cannot allow the mental mistakes to happen on defense like we did today."
The Lady Vols ended their week on a high note with a sweep of Olney, 8-2 and 13-7.
Aldridge allowed two runs in seven innings in the opener, which included a grand slam from Rogers in the third inning. Taja Dedecker and Chamness also hit homers and Sydney Levan went 4-for-4.
Levan then pitched the second game and hit a home run as well. Logan also got long balls from Wilson, Rogers and Rebecca Moffett in the rout.
Logan (14-8) was scheduled to play at Rend Lake in a doubleheader at 2 p.m. Monday.
