Tyler Smithpeters -- SIU (Harrisburg HS)
Smithpeters was one of five Salukis to score in double figures as the senior tossed in 11 in SIU's 76-72 overtime victory at Indiana State Saturday.
Smithpeters was 4-of-8 from the field and 1-of-4 from 3-point range, while knocking down a pair of free throws and pulling down seven rebounds (defensive). Smithpeters had six assists and one turnover in 38 minutes off the bench.
On Wednesday (2/14) SIU knocked off Missouri Sate 81-80 in overtime at the Arena, where Smithpeters had eight points on 3-of-5 shooting from the foul and going 2-for-3 from long range.
Smithpeters grabbed three rebounds (defensive) and had four assists to go with three steals and one turnover in 26 minutes.
On Sunday (2/11) Smithpeters had eight points in the Dawgs' 74-57 win over Bradley at home.
Smithpeters played 23 minutes and went 3-for-6 from the field, including a 2-for-4 mark from 3-point range. The Harrisburg standout had four assists and finished with two turnovers.
Bahari Amaya -- Illinois Springfield (Harrisburg HS)
Amaya had two points on 1-of-3 shooting in Illinois Springfield's 79-72 loss to Missouri St. Louis Saturday.
Amaya played just five minutes, coming off the bench and did not play in the Prairie Stars' 82-79 loss to Quincy last Thursday.
Justin Carpenter -- SEMO (Mt. Carmel HS)
Carpenter had 13 points in Southeast Missouri State's 79-74 win over SIUe Saturday at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau.
Carpenter shot 5-for-10 from the field and was 3-of-3 at the free throw line, while grabbing six rebounds and fishing with two assists and two turnovers in 20 minutes of action.
On Thursday, in an 80-73 win over Eastern Illinois, Carpenter had six points, going 1-for-5 from the floor and 4-for-4 from the charity stripe. The Mt. Carmel native grabbed seven rebounds (six defensive) and finished with three steals, one assist and one turnover in 29 minutes.
Jacob Eklund -- Kansas State (Carterville HS)
Eklund had a nice start to his spring season at the Kansas State sophomore finished in a tie for seventh place at the USA Individual Tournament Tuesday at the Magnolia Grove Golf Course in Mobile, Alabama. The Carterville native finished 2-over par 215. Eklund shave three strokes off his second-round score to finish at 2-under part 69, moving four spots on the leaderboard. On Monday, Eklund shot a 3-over par 74 to finish in a tie for 13th place in the first round.
The Wildcats will play in their first team event of the spring season in 11 days, February 24-25, as they take part in the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, Florida.
Tyra Buss -- Indiana (Mt. Carmel HS)
Buss scored 37 points, with 11 coming in the first quarter in Saturday's 83-75 win over Nebraska at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Ind. Buss had 20 in the first half and the Mt. Carmel native pushed her career scoring record to 2,154 points. Buss also holds career records for free-throws made (582) and steals (271). Buss had five assists and now needs eight assists to set the Indiana career assists record.
For Buss, it is her fourth career game scoring at least 30 points and tied for her second most points in a game (38 vs. North Carolina State, 12/1/16 and 35 vs. Florida 12/20/16).
Buss and Amanda Cahill are the only players in program history on the top-10 career scoring list to play at the same time.
Alison Webb -- Lindenwood-Belleville (Goreville HS)
Webb had a game-high 15 points for the Lynx in a 79-42 win over Hannibal-Lagrange College Saturday.
Webb went 8-for-13 shooting from the floor and 1-of-2 from the free throw line. The Goreville native finished with a double-double grabbing 15 rebounds (13 defensive) and finished with six assists, four steals and three blocks in 30 minutes of work.
Webb had 11 points in Lindenwood's 70-38 win over Stephens College last Thursday, where she played 27 minutes and finished 4-of-8 from the field and 3-of-4 from the foul line and had another double-double, pulling down 12 boards (seven defensive).
Isaac Ingram -- SIU (Harrisburg HS)
Ingram currently leads the Missouri Valley Conference in the Weight Throw with a toss of 71-feet-7.50 (21.82m) and Ingram ranks 12th in the nation.
Sam Sikon -- SIU (Carbondale HS)
Sikon is one of eight Salukis who rank in the top-75 nationaly in their respective events. Sikon, a SIU freshman, is currently 60th in the Shot Put with a toss if 57-feet-11.25 (17.66m).
J.T. Weber -- SIU (Massac Co. HS)
It was a nice start to the career for SIU freshman third baseman J.T. Weber as the Salukis opened the season in Alabama against Jacksonville State over the weekend.
Weber went 1-for-3 Sunday in a 6-0 shutout loss to JSU and had a 1-for-3 performance on Saturday with a pair of RBI and two runs scored in the Salukis 10-9 loss to the Gamecocks. The Massac County native cranked his first home run of the season with a shot to left center in the fourth inning to put the Dawgs up 3-2 on JSU. Weber finished with a walk and had one strikeout and on Friday he went 1-for-3 with a strikeout in a 7-4 loss.
Erin Lukens -- Millikin (Herrin HS)
Lukens, a junior on the Millikin Track & Field Team won the 400 meters at the Friday Night Special Meet at Eastern Illinois over the weekend. Lukens set a school record time of 58.87 in the event and she was part of the 4x400 that finished second with a time of 4:14.75.
