MARION -- The Marion Junior High School girls basketball team celebrated 8th Grade Night with a 60-29 win over West Frankfort's Central Junior High on Tuesday.
Marion is now 14-3 with one game left in the regular season.
The Lady Wildcats jumped out to a 24-5 lead in the first quarter with Margaux Bruce and Grace Connor both scoring six points in the frame.
Jerzy Bittle dropped in seven points in the second period as the lead reached 39-15 by halftime.
Karris Rhine and Bruce both had four points in the third quarter, which ended with Marion holding a 51-23 advantage.
Bruce finished with a team-high 10 points, while Connor, Rhine and Lily Garrett all had eight each, with Garrett scoring a basket in each period.
Sarah Capel added six points and Piper Jones put in five in the fourth quarter. Baylee Kelley chipped in four and Presley Barnett also scored.
Marion's seventh-grade team rolled to a 36-21 win and is still undefeated at 17-0. Bittle led Marion with 17 points.
MJHS finishes the regular season Thursday night at Herrin before beginning postseason play next week in Centralia.
