Lady Cats fall at Althoff

BELLEVILLE -- The Marion High School girls basketball team traveled to Belleville Althoff on Tuesday night and fell 47-36 in the South Seven Conference matchup.
Marion is now 10-6 overall and 1-2 in conference games with both losses coming to Althoff, which improved to 7-9 and 3-3.
Tiffani Siekmann sank four 3-pointers and scored 14 points to lead the Lady Crusaders. Gabby Siekmann added nine points.
Althoff used a 13-4 run in the second quarter to take a 25-12 lead into halftime and extended the lead to 41-18 in the third period.
Marion closed the gap by doubling its score and outscoring Althoff by 12 in the final eight minutes.
McKenzie Orange led Marion with 10 points. Daishen Wolaver was next with five, while Abby Bayer, Jordan Turner, Jackie Drury and Jasa Bell all had four each.
Madi Rodgers added a 3-pointer and Cassandra Woods had two points.
Lauryn Kadela returned from an illness that kept her out of the Benton tournament and played but did not score.
Marion plays at Cahokia on Saturday afternoon.
