Tyler Smithpeters -- SIU
Smithpeters played 24 minutes in SIU's 81-66 season opening win at Winthrop Friday.
The Saluki senior guard was 3-for-5 from the field and 1-of-3 from 3-point range, while finishing 2-for-3 at the free throw line for nine points. Smithpeters grabbed two rebounds (both defensive) and added an assist and a turnover to his stat sheer. SIU will play host to Illinois-Springfield to the SIU Arena Saturday, starting at 7 p.m.

Bahari Amaya -- Illinois Springfield
Amaya played 20 minutes and scored seven points as Illinois-Springfield fell to Malone 74-54 Saturday night. Amaya was 2-for-8 from the field and 1-of-5 from 3-point range, while hitting on 2-of-3 foul shots. The former Harrisburg standout had one defensive rebound and finished with three turnovers and one steal. Amaya and the Prairie Stars will invade SIU Arena Saturday at 7 p.m.

Justin Carpenter -- Southeast Missouri State
The Mt. Carmel native played 10 minutes and scored four points in SEMO's 81-69 win over Missouri Baptist to open the season Friday. Carpenter was 2-of-2 from the field and grabbed two defensive rebounds. He had two assists, one turnover and one steal. The Redhawks were scheduled to play at Louisiana Tech Monday night and then will be at Evansville Thursday night.

Austin Wills -- Trevecca Nazarene
Wills netted five points, coming off the bench for Trevecca in the Trojans' 86-66 loss to Maryville University-St. Louis Sunday. The Benton product was 1-of-6 from the floor and went 1-of-3 from behind the arc, taking on 2-of-2 free throws. Trevecca Nazarene (0-2) returns to action Thursday when the Trojans travel to Alabama-Huntsville.

Tyra Buss -- Indiana
Buss opened her senior season with a double-double, helping Indiana to a 93-51 win over Arkansas State Sunday. It was the fourth straight win for the Hoosiers as Buss set a new career-high with 11 assists to go along with a game-high 28 points on 8-of-13 shooting and five steals to record her seventh-career double-double. Buss played 33 minutes and shot 61 percent from the floor. The Mt. Carmel standout moved into seventh on the Hoosiers all-time career scoring list with 1,629 points. Sunday's game was her 30th career game scoring 20 or more points. Buss is also tied for second all-time in career assists with Heather Cassady (411). She needs 122 more assists to tie the all-time school record of 533 set by Tisha Hill.
