MATTOON - The John A. Logan College volleyball team defended its No. 1 seed and disposed of Kaskaskia in three consecutive sets Saturday afternoon (25-16, 25-23, 25-17) to capture the Region 24 championship, its second straight regional title.
With the win, the Volunteers (19-10 overall and winners of the Great Rivers Athletic Conference), will host Mineral Area College of Park Hills, Missouri next Saturday at 7 p.m. The winner will advance to the national tournament.
Logan was led offensively by Kayla Grady and Ahnie Hoff with a combined 16 kills. Defensively, Carolyn Phoenix registered 11 digs. Emily Burkitt contributed eight digs along with six kills.
Taytum Murdock led in assists with 16.
