SESSER - There have been some heavyweight battles between Franklin County rivals, Christopher and Sesser-Valier, in years past. Friday's game wasn't one of them.

The Red Devils, who now participate in a cooperative agreement with Waltonville and Woodlawn, while Christopher co-ops with Zeigler-Royalton, ran roughshod over the Bearcats, 66-0, at Carroll Kelly Field.

It took the Red Devils just one play to get into the scoring column. Peyton Rock ran up the middle and into daylight, reaching the endzone from 71 yards out. The two-point conversion was good for an 8-0 lead.

After Sesser's defense forced a punt, the Red Devils put together their longest drive of the game, taking about four minutes off the clock en route to the goal line.

Lukas Gunter capped the drive with a 12-yard run as the offense overcame two major penalties.

Rock scored his second touchdown of the game moments later with a 28-yard interception return for a score with six minutes left in the first quarter. He added a third score a minute and a half later on a 32-yard run and the Red Devils had a 32-0 advantage after one quarter.

The offense continued to roll in the second quarter as Kadin Kiselewski had two touchdown catches - the first a 22-yarder followed up by a 31-yarder.

Clayton Smith contributed a seven-yard scoring run, as well, while the Red Devils' defense was pitching a shutout. The score was 58-0 at halftime.

Sesser's lone score in the second half came with 5:19 to play on a two-yard run by freshman Jordan Lance playing in his first varsity game.

Rock finished the game with 152 yards rushing on five carries and scored twice. As a team, the Red Devils amassed 336 yards on 37 carries. Smith and Basso also combined for 138 yards passing with three touchdowns, all going to Kiselewski.

The Bearcats totaled negative rushing yards. However, quarterback Bryce Pratt was 14-31 passing for 198 yards and one interception.

Sesser-Valier/Waltonville/Woodlawn hosts the 3-2 Chester Yellow Jackets next Friday night for Homecoming. The Bearcats return home to Christopher to host 4-1 Eldorado.
