Logan spikers go 4-0 at Parkland Invite

CHAMPAIGN -- The John A. Logan College volleyball team enjoyed a productive weekend in Champaign, going 4-0 at the Parkland Invitational. Logan improves to 13-5 overall.

The Volunteers earned wins over Rock Valley, Kirkwood, Muskegon and McHenry. Kirkwood and McHenry were both ranked in the Top 20 among Division II junior college programs.

In the win over Muskegon (25-18, 11-25, 25-20, 25-12), Brooke Hogard led Logan in digs with 19 and Carolyn Phoenix added 16. Shelbey Saye had the most assists with 19. Ahnie Hoff was tops in kills with 15.

Against McHenry, the Vols won in straight sets: 25-13, 25-20 and 25-22.

Christopher native Emily Burkitt recorded the most digs with 12. She also tied Hoff in kills with seven. The team combined for 12 blocks. Saye again led in assists with 15.

Logan returns to Great Rivers Athletic Conference action Wednesday at Belleville against Southwestern Illinois College.
