Marion harriers run at Nashville

NASHVILLE -- The Marion High School boys cross country team collected some more hardware Monday with a victory at the Nashville Invitational.

Marion scored just 73 points to beat out runner-up Pinckneyville (89), with Breese Mater Dei (109), Steeleville (112) and Nashville (174) rounding out the top five with 19 teams competing.

John Bruce finished second overall behind Mater Dei's Luke Goebel with a time of 15:58.6. Levi Bryant was third in 16:21.6 and Julian McPhail was 13th in 17:40.5.

In the girls race, Marion placed seventh. The top runners were Lexi Basi (22:40), Quincy Gordon (22:46) and Ana Cuartas (22:46).
