Du Quoin High School senior Tarynn Mays has left quite the mark in the DHS record books in her four years on the track and field team.

Which is why it was no surprise when she decided to continue on her track career into college, signing her letter of intent and accepting a scholarship to continue competing at the University of Illinois.

Mays is a four-time conference champion triple jumper and pulled off a clean sweep in her events this season with conference championships in the long jump, 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. She has set DHS school records in the triple jump, breaking her own record Friday with a jump of 38'00.5" at the SIRR conference meet, and the 100-meter dash as well.

Mays credited some of her success in the long and triple jump to coach Quivon Bledose.

On top of her success in track, Mays was also a member of the girls varsity basketball team.
