SIKESTON, Mo. -- Marissa Basi's goal with 3:01 left in double overtime gave the Marion High School girls soccer team a 2-1 win over Sikeston on Monday night.
"We battled against a very good, aggressive and physical team," said Marion coach Jaime Clark-Verbeck. "The defense worked hard and Maddie Goodley had a great game in the goal."
Marion is now 9-5 with six wins in a row.
Nicole Szidik scored Marion's first goal with 16:11 left in the first half to tie the score after Sikeston's Emma Jones netted the first goal of the match at the 21:44 mark. Alaina White assisted on Szidik's goal.
Marion plays again Tuesday at Trenton Wesclin.
