Prep Bowling: Bulldogs take third at Carterville Invitational

The Harrisburg High School boys and girls’ bowling team both took third at Saturday’s Carterville Invitational held at SI Bowl.

The Harrisburg boys shot a 6-game total of 5535, finishing behind Herrin and Breese Mater Dei. The Bulldog girls rolled a 5615, finishing behind No. 1 Salem and Herrin, placing second.

The Harrisburg girls were 37 pins away from finishing second and 42 pins from taking first place.

Claire McDermott won the overall individual title with a 1317 for the day, a 219 average and Elizabeth Davis and Keely Reed had a 1161 and 1145 to back her up.

On the boys’ side, Zach Hunt placed third overall with a 6-game total 1203, while Sebastian Barton (1145) and Brenden Mitchell (1137) supported Hunt nicely with solid efforts.

Harrisburg was slated to play Steeleville at S.I. Bowling Monday and then both squads are in action at home Wednesday against Marion and then at Johnston City on Thursday.

The boys’ regional will be held this Saturday.
