U of I Extension Week has something for everyone

During U of I Extension Week, April 18-24, you’ll find some unique learning opportunities at your county U of I Extension office in Benton.

• Water Smart Gardening: This seminar, on Tuesday, April 20, will show you how to save both time and money with the most efficient watering techniques for your lawn and garden. The program starts at 10 a.m. and will conclude before noon. There is no charge to attend.

• Computer Check-Ups:  This is an opportunity to have your computer diagnosed for any problems or potential issues. Razor Consulting will be on hand to provide this free service. Check-ups are offered on Tuesday, April 20, 4-6 p.m., and again on Thursday, April 22, 2-5 p.m.  There is no charge, but advance registration is needed. You can register by phone, 439-3178, or online at franklin.extension.uiuc.edu.

• Advanced Photo Editing: If you’ve had our beginning photo editing class and want to learn more, this is for you. The class is Tuesday, April 20, 6:30-8:30 p.m.  You’ll use the Picasa photo editing program to make web albums and gift CDs, and explore other features of the program. Cost is $20, space is limited, and advance registration is required. To register, call 439-3178.

• Parenting Again Support Group Training: This training on Thursday, April 22, 6-9 p.m. is for anyone who wants to start a support group for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. Register online at franklin.extension.uiuc.edu.

• Adult Sewing Class: During this class on Friday, April 23, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., you’ll make a spring candle mat. Cost is $5, which includes all supplies. Advance registration needed, 439-3178.

Living Well: Tip of the Week
When it comes to staying youthful and healthy, exercise is the key. It can help you improve flexibility, firm sagging muscles, lower your risk of diabetes, ease arthritis, and alleviate stress. So get moving and stay young!
