Mildred Meeks, 91, of Sesser passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at 9:10 a.m. at the Helia Health Care in Benton.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort with the Rev. Steve Flach officiating. Burial will be in the Denning Cemetery in West Frankfort.

Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Mildred was born March 14, 1918, in Hardin County, Ill., to Alex Pennell and Sarah (Ledbetter) Pennell. She married John Paul Meeks and he preceded her in death in 1991.

Survivors include a niece, Phyllis Renchen and husband, Kenneth, of Manteno; two nephews, Ronnie Simmons and wife, Ruth, of Herscher, and Alex Simmons and wife, Cynthia of Manteno; and a stepson, Paul Keith Meeks.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; infant son, John B. Miller; and by 11 brothers and sisters.
