Maurice J. Crotty, 69, of Thompsonville passed away at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2009, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 20, 1939, in Chicago to Maurice J. Crotty and Frances (Fitzgerald) Crotty. He married Sharon (McGivern) on April 21, 1959, in Chicago.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Crotty of Thompsonville; a daughter, Lisa Law of Thompsonville; four sons, Maurice J. Crotty of Chicago, Brian and Cindy Crotty of Sandwich, Richard and Kathy Crotty of Oak Forest and Michael Crotty of Carbondale; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Crotty of Arizona; two sisters, Carol Lyke of Tinley Park and Janeen Foryes of Palm Beach, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a son-in-law, Bobby Law.

He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Benton and was a past member of the Thompsonville Lions Club. He had worked as a plumber for the city of Chicago Water Dept.

It was his wish to be cremated there will be no services. Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort is in charge of arrangements.
