Edith Rose Johnson, 92, died on Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at the Providence Park Skilled Care Center in Tyler, Texas, after a short illness.

Graveside services and burial will be at the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4.  A memorial service will be held Tyler, Texas, at a later date.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Cobden on Feb. 26, 1918, the daughter of Dennis and Ethel Bevil.
 
She worked for many years at Barton and Collins Furniture in Benton before her retirement. She was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas.

She is survived by her sons, Gary L. Rose and his wife Cindy, San Antonio, Texas, and Ricky D. Rose and his wife Pam, Tyler, Texas; five grandchildren, Michael Rose and his wife Brenda of San Antonio, Texas, Kimberly Kneen and her husband Malcolm of Tomball, Texas, and Camala Turnage and her husband Nathan of San Antonio, Texas, Robbie Poel and her husband Dan of St. Charles, Missouri, and Jay Rose of Benton; seven great-grandchildren,  Cooper Turnage, Tyler and Kylie Rose, Derek and Collin Kneen, Gracie and Georgianna  Poel; sister, Norma Baggott of Cobden; nieces, Jane Brookins of Whittington and Cynthia  Boehne of Carbondale; nephews, Dale Rose of Sesser, Darren Baggott of Anna, and Dennis and Conrad Wayne Baggott of Cobden.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters; husband, Jesse Elwood "J.E." Rose, and husband, James J. Johnson; and stepson George Rose.
