Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, Toledo.

Eileen was born Dec. 8, 1919, the daughter of Forrest and Ivy (Sperry) Wood. After attending Eastern Illinois University, she lived in Springfield with her sister for five years where she worked for the Franklin Life Insurance Company.

On March 9, 1946, she married Guy Fogleman. He died on April 28, 2001.

The survivors include their daughters, Jeannie (Jim) Walters of Charleston, Judi Beaumont Markwell of Toledo, and Joyce Fogleman of Benton. Grandchildren are Karen (Rob) Ospalik of Chicago, Courtney (Steve) Carr of Toledo, Kurt Walters of Beaver Dam, Wis., and Craig (Jessica) Beaumont of Toledo. Eileen had four great-grandchildren, Memphis Waggoner, Michael and Natalie Beaumont, and Kenley Carr. In addition, she is survived by her dear sister, Marjorie Shafer; her sister- in-law, Lois Fogleman; and many nieces and nephews.

Guy and Eileen purchased a farm south of Toledo in 1950 where Eileen was still living on the family farm at the time of her death. They shared the love of farming and continued to do so until 1996. Eileen worked for 18 years as a district secretary for the Cumberland County Soil & Water Conservation District. She then worked for 20 years as an administrative assistant, handling payroll and accounts payable for Joyce’s business, J & S Professional Pharmacy in West Frankfort.

Eileen was an active member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Toledo, serving as church treasurer, Sunday school teacher and conference delegate for many, many years.  She was a charter member of the Our-Nite-Out Home Extension unit.

Guy and Eileen’s home was always open and welcome to friends and family who might drop by at any time. The coffeepot was always on and Eileen could “whip up” a delicious meal at the drop of a hat.  Many a happy hour and good laughs were shared around the card table playing pinochle, hearts, spades and bid 8's .

The family is forever grateful for Delores and Lucy Flach, who provided in-home care for Eileen during the past few years.
