Kenneth Eugene VanHoorebeke, 70, of Scheller died at home Monday, Aug. 16, 2010.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23, at the Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser, officiated by the Rev. Chuck Ellis. Burial will be in Paradise Prairie in Tamaroa. Visitation will be on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m.
Kenneth was born on May 14, 1940, in Sesser, the son of Lester and Virginia (Hamilton) VanHoorebeke. He was married to Beverly Jean (Pierson) VanHoorebeke, and she preceded him in death.
A coal miner, Kenneth was a member of the UMWA and the Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children, Kathy Jean VanHoorebeke of Scheller and Kenneth Wayne VanHoorebeke of Centralia; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and siblings, Joyce Swick of Glendale, Ariz., Neva McBride of Tennessee and Lester Junior VanHoorebeke of Sibley.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
