David William Arnett, 56, of Zeigler passed away Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at the Herrin Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Arnett were to be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23, at the Christian Life Center, 1901 N. Park Avenue in Herrin with Pastors Steven McKeown, Brent Fitzgerald and Fred Starkweather officiating. Burial will be at the Zeigler Cemetery. Visiting hours were from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday until the time of the services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Arnett are suggested to the Christian Life Center, 1901 N. Park Avenue, Herrin, IL 62948. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Vantrease Funeral Homes, Inc. of Royalton and Zeigler is in charge of the arrangements.

David was born April 26, 1954, at the Miners Hospital in Christopher to Carl William and Loretta June (Turner) Arnett.

He married Debra Jean Aleksick Sept. 28, 1973, at the First Baptist Church in Zeigler.  She survives in Zeigler.

Other survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Nathan David and Lauren (Boswell) Arnett of Carterville and Kevin Wade Arnett of Herrin; two granddaughters, Grace and Lily Arnett of Carterville; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ellen and Don McNail of Marion; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Rita and John Dobill of Eureka and Ruth Ann and Larry Jones of Mulkeytown; a brother-in-law, George Aleksick of Conroe, Texas; an aunt and uncle, Audrey and Lester Rumsey of West Frankfort and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

His parents and a sister and brother-in-law, Leah and Gary Menees also preceded him in death.

David was a member and worship leader at the Christian Life Center Church in Herrin. He retired after 29 years in the coal mines and was a member of the UMWA Local Union. He was currently working in sales at Larry’s Trailers Sales in Zeigler.

David was a devoted, husband, father and “Papa”; he was passionate to his God, family and friends.
