Lincoln C. Plumlee, 82, of Buckner died Monday, June 22, 2009, at the Herrin Hospital.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, officiated by Brother Mark Minor. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery in Buckner. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service at 1.
Lincoln was born March 28, 1927, in Zeigler, the son of Carlos and Mary (Wilkerson) Plumlee. He was married to Roberta M. (Laws) Plumlee, and she survives in Buckner.
He was a coal miner at Old Ben 21. He was a lifetime member of the Zeigler Legion and also a member of the UMWA.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Michelle and Timothy Johnson of Mulkeytown, Robert and Beverly Plumlee of Buckner, Mary Christopher Pyles of Zeigler and Chelsea Plumlee of Buckner; grandchildren, Christy Plumlee, Daniell Wilcox, Robert Plumlee II, George Plumlee, Joshua Plumlee, Nathaniel Plumlee, Christian Plumlee, Noah Plumlee, Austin Plumlee and Christopher Pyles; great-grandchild, Miles Plumlee; and sibling, Bina Plumlee of Mulkeytown.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Carlos Plumlee.
We love and miss him with every breath we breathe. And he lives on in our hearts forever! Our father was not only our father — he was our best friend. “Never forgotten and always loved.”
