Billy L. Burgoon, 80, of Mulkeytown died Monday, March 1, 2010, at his home.

A family graveside service was scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, at the IOOF Cemetery in Du Quoin.

The Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher is in charge of arrangements.

Billy was born on May 10, 1929, in Du Quoin, the son of Cecil P. and Emma M. (Schmidt) Burgoon.

He was married to Geraldine Burgoon.

Billy was a U.S. Army sergeant, serving in the Korean War. He was a farmer and a member of St. John's United Methodist Church of Christ.

He is survived by his children, Willy Burgoon of Murphysboro and Laura DePew of Waltonville; grandchildren, Adam DePew, Brandon DePew, Megan Goosetree, Ashlynn DePew and Molly Goosetree.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
