Dorothy Murray, 78, of West Frankfort departed this life at 1:31 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, in Herrin Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, at Varis-Stone Funeral Home in West Frankfort with Sister Katherine officiating. Burial will be in Tower Heights Cemetery. Friends of the Dorothy Murray family may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
She was born Nov. 12, 1933, in West Frankfort, a daughter of Frank Sr. and Nelli (Slyvinski) Varys. She married Paul Murray in West Frankfort, and he preceded her in death.
Dorothy was a registered nurse and graduate of the St. Joseph School of Nursing in Joliet. The majority of her working career was at the Franklin Hospital in Benton. She was of Catholic faith.
She is survived by nephews Bob and wife Betsy Varis of West Frankfort and Steve Murray of Birmingham, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Paul; three brothers, Frank, Jr., Robert, and James; and sister, Margaret Walton.
