Richard "Dick" Benjamin, 61, of Benton and formerly of Carrollton, Ga., died Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 2, 2010, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton. Burial with military rites conducted by the Benton American Legion and VFW Posts will be in the Masonic & Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

He was born in Terre Haute, Ind., on Dec. 13, 1948, the son of Richard Harold and Betty (Lacey) Benjamin.

He married Becky (Whitehead) in 1970, and she survives.

Mr. Benjamin was a 1967 graduate of Gerstmeyer High School in Terre Haute, Ind.

He enlisted in the Army in 1969 and was an Aviator and Chief Warrant Officer during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Benjamin retired as Director of Manufacturing from Sony Music in 2009 and relocated to Benton from Carrollton, Ga.

He loved to golf and was a member of the Franklin County Country Club. He was a member of the Benton Elks and American Legion Post 280 in Benton.

He is survived by his wife, Becky Benjamin of Benton; son, Ty Benjamin of Terre Haute, Ind.; mother, Betty Benjamin of Terre Haute, Ind.; sister, Debbie Benjamin Scott and husband, Tim, of Terre Haute, Ind.; brother, David Benjamin of Terre Haute, Ind.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bobby Joe and Mary Alice Whitehead of Mount Carmel; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Vicki Connor of Vincennes, Ind., Jerry and Marcia Whitehead of Benton, and Bill and Cathy Smith of Benton; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Benjamin was preceded in death by his father, Richard Benjamin; a brother, Donald Benjamin; and an infant son, Jason.
