Michael Lee Wyant, 53, of Benton passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010 in his home at 11:20 a.m. surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 2 at the New Life Church of God, 707 North DuQuoin Street in Benton, with the Rev. John Overturf and Pastor Rod Joplin officiating. Poulson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the church, with services beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Brady Cemetery in Akin.
Mike was born Sept. 30, 1956 in Chicago to William C. Wyant and Delores J. (Pence) Wyant. The family later resided in Akin.
Mike was married to Mary C. (Cali) Wyant on May 4, 1992 and resides in Benton with their four children.
Mike was a roofer for 38 years. He owned and operated Mike Wyant Roofing for 12 years. He later worked at several area coal mines before becoming ill. He loved helping others, Ranger football, fixing things, his two ponies Buddy and Baby, and all of his chickens. He recently became a born again Christian...Mike was at peace.
He is survived by his wife and four children Robbie (Jacklyn) Wyant; two special little guys Hayden and Logan of Benton, Michael Jr., Esther and Laurencia Wyant of Benton, who reside at home; two brothers, Bill (Anita) Wyant and Lyle (Debbie) Wyant of Akin; and three sisters, Carolyn Johnson, Judy (John) Overturf, Renna (Pete Edwards) Pritchard, all of Benton.
He is sadly missed by several brothers- and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many friends including two special friends Bill and Saretta Todd.
Mike was preceded in death by both parents, grandparents, brother-in-law Rick Johnson and a dearly loved nephew Melvin James “Clyde” Holmes.
