Claris Dean Barger of Eddyville

Claris Dean Barger, age 86, of Eddyville, passed away at 10:42 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019 at Franklin County Hospital in Benton.

Claris was born on Feb. 19, 1933, in Eddyville, to the late Dee and Rena (Manyor) Barger. On April 5, 1953 he married Wanda Tedford. She preceded him in death on July 27, 2015.

Claris was a farmer, and he worked at Dixon Springs Ag Center in the Forestry Department as a forester for over 40 years. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a caring, honest, hardworking person. He enjoyed camping.

Claris is survived by three sons, Ronald Darla) Barger of Eldorado, Dennis (Julie) Barger of Delwood, and Kevin (Jill) Barger of Carrier Mills; nine grandchildren, Whittney Barger of Eldorado, Ronna (Mike) Enyman of Carmi, Sherri Ann Flatt of Delwood, Dale Flatt of Delwood, Hannah Jo Barger of Delwood, Chad Barger of Evansville, Indiana, Jared Barger of Carrier Mills, Jacob Barger of Carrier Mills and Tyler Barger of Carrier Mills; a great-grandson, Kinzer Harness of Eldorado; two sisters, Gayla Barger of Glendale and Golda (Marvin) Williamson of Glendale; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Wanda, Claris was preceded in death by a brother, Vick Barger; a sister, Gladys Seets; and a brother-in-law, John Seets.

Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Jerry Wells will officiate. Burial will follow in New Home Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the Army National Guard and Harrisburg and Carrier Mills American Legion and VFW posts.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to New Home Cemetery.
